Okay, I know you said only teens could answer, but when I was a teen, which really wasn't too long ago, ( I'm 23 now) I used to drink A LOT. And yup, my parents knew, and THEY WERE NOT HAPPY. ( Well, my mother wasn't, and she still gets cranky when I drink!!) But I wasn't never grounded and really they didn't say too much to me. They nagged a bit but the damage was already done.
Really, I can't say that I think teen drinking should be legal. I have to disagree with you on this one. Just because I have seen (in my area) how alcohol has affected many teens, and I know how it affected me. Face it, people can get really stupid when they are drunk. A few years ago, a girl from my high school was killed in a car crash, and it was alcohol related. She was 16. And I can name a few more deaths and near deaths that have been alcohol related with teens. I think the reason why their is a legal age is because drinking is a huge responsibility, and can have negative effects on people. And teens aren't even fully developed physically until adulthood. So alcohol will effect teens in different ways compared to adults.
I know you teens don't think it is really a big deal, and I'm sure some of you drink at home...But really, there is a lot more to it then meets the eye. But all I can say is if you do drink, please don't drive and stay where ever you are. Call a cab or something if you really need to go somewhere. JUST BE SAFE!!!

I am in Canada and the drinking age is 19 where I happen to be (18 in other areas).
I am 19 now, so here we go:

1. Have you ever had alcohol
-sure have
2. Did my parents know?
-when I was in grade 9 my best friend's parents and my parents decided that if we drank ourselves sick once we would never do it again. So new years they bought us a mickey of vodka and 2 six packs of coolers and we drank ourselves sick. I never liked it much but my friend is a bit of an alchie now.
3. How did they react?
-the first time I drank they knew and were a little worried.
-after that I would sneak out to parties (my mum had some odd idea that if I wasn't allowed to party I would grow up normally and never do drugs/smoke drink) and my dad would know I had a hangover and not care although my mom was oblivious
-for graduation my mum though it was my second time drinking. She laughed when I came home with a badddd hangover

Hope this helps!

I think that in America people are way too uptight about letting their kids drink, and this is why more people drink irresponsibly. In most other countrys, people expose kids to alchohol, and let them try it sometimes, or drink a little on special occasions, and that way they learn to drink responsibly, and drinking is not something illegal and exciting to do. If they are shown that alchohol is a really important thing that adults luv, but kids can NEVER drink, it makes them want to drink, so they go with their friends and get drunk. I dont see anything wrong with one glass of wine, but in proportion. Haha i'll answer the questions now:
I have had alchohol, but for religious reasons
My parents knew, obviously
I think that even if it was somewhere else, my parents would be a little worried, but not go crazy. They'd just make sure that if i have to drink, at least i'm drinking safely. (even though i never have)

The first time I had alcohol was last year when I was in ninth grade. Bad friends+peer pressure don't mix very well....my parents didn't know cuz I never came home drunk or anything.

Usually they are the ones giving it to me. Its not a huge deal in our house, in fact, as long as i tell my parents I'm going to be drinking its not a big deal when I'm out of the house.
