Unfortunately the marker pen will have re-dyed the leather and so there is nothing on the DIY basis that will remove this.

It will need a solvent to remove the marker and this will also remove the finish and pigment from your sofa (if it is a pigmented suite) which will then need replacing.

This is best left to the experts. Call a trained leather technician to do the work.


If you try to use baby wipes or nail polish remover or many other DIY remedies you will damage the finish on your leather. Baby wipes are just about the worst thing to clean leather with.

I cannot understand where the idea that milk will clean leather comes from. It will almost cetainly do more harm than good

Saddle soap, elbow grease and a good rubdown with neat's foot oil. Don't use any alcohol based products, they will remove the color from the leather. Don't use any petroleum based products, they will stain the leather permanently. Keep your kids off the furniture.

Lighter fluid dripped onto the stain, leave 4 10 seconds thel rub with lintfree clothe. It's amazing. Works with heavy oil stains & leaves no marks at all.

Methylated spirits remove´s ink it also removes grass stain´s should you ever need this tip . use a cotton wool and a little Methylated spirit and rub . rinse straight away with cold water .Then with tepid water and a little washing up liquid to take away the smell rinse and there you go . hope you find this helpful. use a soft cloth and milk it should just wipe off, may need a bit of elbow grease
