It depends on your symptoms, usually if your having gas pains or discomfort after eating a meal, then gas x is best because that is the reason for it, where tums and rolaids is more for heartburn and nausea.

RE:
Is Gas-X more effective than Tums or Rolaids?

Gas-X, Tums and Rolaids are antiacids that neutralize some of the acid temporarily in your stomach and may allow the stomach to empty sooner and help you feel better.
The X in Gas-X is simethicone which is an ingredient that breaks up gas bubbles, thus reducing the feeling of bloating or distention.
If you have flatus(gas) and bloating- go for the X factor.

Tums and rolaids are both ant-acids. They will help with heart burn. If you are feeling a little gassy then try the gas-x. Good luck with your problem.

don't believe i'd bother. the active ingredient doesn't even relieve gas, it's just clever marketing.

"Chemically, simethicone is a mixture of polydimethylsiloxanes that works by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles, causing them to combine into larger bubbles that can be passed more easily by belching or flatulence. Simethicone does not reduce the quanitity of gas in the digestive tract, it increases the rate at which it leaves the digestive tract. Simethicone is not absorbed by the body into the bloodstream, and is therefore considered relatively safe with sources reporting the worst side effects as bloating, constipation, diarrhea, gas and heartburn."
