all are generally heavy metal
Black Label Society, would definately be the most, straightforward traditional Heavy Metal
Mastadon, pretty close with a hint of grindcore, hardcore cookiemonster vocals, but the instramentalism is basic metal
Lacuna Coil, is a basic melodic death metal sound, again rooted more in metal than traditional death metal (for heavy sh!t, with a female vocalist my vote goes to Arch Enemy, though)
Mushroomhead would be more of a progressive, experimenting band, leaning toward hard rock electronica at times
honestly not very familiar with perfect circle

Genre classification can really be left to debate. One person may think a band can fit in one genre, when they best fit in another.
Mushroomhead-nu metal
BLS-Heavy Metal
APC-Alternative metal
Lacuna Coil-nu Metal
Mastodon-Metal, grindcore.

Lacuna Coil - As Above
Mastadon - never heard their music, but they're suppeortin Slayer on their tour of OZ, so they mustn't be too bad.
