How long did it take Frodo and Sam to get to Mordor in LOTR?

Much less than a year. It was one year exactly from Frodo being stabbed by the Lord of the Nazgul on Weathertop to them reaching the ford of Bruinen between Rivendell and Bree on the return journey on October 6th. After the fall of Sauron they spent many weeks in Gondor and travelling home with two or three weeks in Rivendell.

A year, but many years pass between Bilbo' party and when Frodo leaves the Shire.
