he is six weeks old, when he coughs it sounds very phlegmy. he has been to the doc, any suggestions on how to help him get rid of it would be great. I have been giving him Tylenol cold but it doesn't seem to help with the cough.

there isnt anything you can do for a baby that young as far as the cough goes just try to be there to comfort but be careful to watch for fever the tylenol could be masking a fever you need to know about. If you dont trust what that Dr said then take him to a different one. Ps One good thing about the tylenol is that acetominaphe makes a baby a little sleepy so it will help him rest good luck to you guys I hope your baby gets to feeling better

try an Air purifier in the room.
give him a gentle back rub (rub upwards while burping too)
(coughing is good to bring up the fleghm)
i like the vicks vapour idea but again check with your doctor
i wouldn't give tylenol cold, you may want to get a second opinion

make sure he isn't gagging on the milk

Did I understand correctly that you have been giving Tylenol Cold medicine to a 6 week old????

Call your advice nurse and take baby back to the doctor. He may actually need a new parent.

Steam bath or Vaporizer.

Turn on the shower "Hot" , sit with baby in the bathroom about 10 mins. Steam helps him to cough it up.
