The Sun is 73% Hydrogen by mass, 25% Helium, and 2% heavier elements. For a more detailed breakdown, see the reference.

The sun is made of
Hydrogen 73.46 %
Helium 24.85 %
Oxygen 0.77 %
Carbon 0.29 %
Iron 0.16 %
Sulphur 0.12 %
Neon 0.12 %
Nitrogen 0.09 %
Silicon 0.07 %
Magnesium 0.05 %
The helium gas rises and will continue to rise until the sun eventually fallsback on its self and becomes a small dwarf star

As richard_b said, mostly hydrogen and helium with traces of other elements. Helium, was first discovered through a spectroanaylsis of the sun, thus, the name of the element comes from the Greek "helios" meaning "sun".

Sun is a star closest to our planet earth. It is made up of various gases in which hydrogen and helium are in maximum amount. and fusion and fission reactions are going on in the mass of the sun which are the cause of radiations and the energy that we receive from it.

The Sun is mostly hydrogen and helium, but also contains wery small quantities of lots of other elements.

Traces of the other elements such as oxygen, magnesium and iron give us the clues we need to find out what the solar atmosphere is like.

About 74% of the Sun's mass is hydrogen, 25% is helium, and the rest is made up of trace quantities of heavier elements.

The sun is made up of many gases. The two main gases are hydrogen and helium. There are also small amounts of other elements.

Mostly hydrogen. Due to the mass of the sun, some of the hydrogen is fused to helium. In doing so, heat is released from the fusion, which is send to us.

Our sun is a star and our closest one. It's made of gases swirling around in a tight gravitational ball and burning. There will come a day when it will burn itself out. Long before that day comes, the earth will be dead and everything on it. The planet will no longer be able to support life.
