If you are using the Popup Special called IE, then you can set the securtiy way high.

You can also set up MSN, Yahoo, AOL or Google popup stoppers in IE. They tend to work a bit better than the built-in IE version.

Use Mozilla Firefox and get the Ad Block extension.

Admuncher works great in my opinion and they aren't expensive.
It will also block mroe then ad's, if you want to block out a certain image, or even a certain type of website code you can.

IE7, Firefox, Opera all have built in pop-up blockes. Turn them on.

If they do not provide enough protection, you are infected with spyware.

Google toolbar and Yahoo toolbar have pop up blockers.

the yahoo toll bar blocks pretty much all of em and is free
