Ignorance isn't happiness, and I don't thinking basing how someone's life goes on ignorance is a good idea.

The word bliss is used figuratively. The ignorant ones do not have fears as someone has rightly pointed out in his answer and it is the intelligent person who knows the pros and cons of everything and has to be wary of adverse impacts of everything..

As such the suggestion is not to remain ignorant but to point out the responsibility that goes with knowledge... We know how some doctors do not treat their own family members... Even a headache of a member of the family sends anxiety to the physician if it could be cerebrosis, this or that...

The knowledge is not just a thing to feel proud about, it actually expands the awareness of the things yet to be known.. Hence we can read more into some seemingly funny quotes as "philos" had tried to explain in his reply..

To aspire we require knowledge. Confidence acquired though knowledge, aspires discriminative knowledge, Knowledge is also a bliss like ignorance. Negative and positive wires for electricity, life longing. One should acknowledge the full circle. Ignorance is to end points knowledge is the marrow in between. I hope I reached you. Thanking you.

Those who consider ignorance a bliss are living in a fool's paradise for today's world is a knowledge driven world. It is just like looking at the yak who is rushing towards u so as to kill u and shutting your eyes thinking that u r out of danger. We should not turn our back to the ground realities of life and b optimistic and geared up so as to face any challenges of life.Rightly said"Hope for the best,Prepare for the worst."

It is said that ignorance is bliiss because ignorant is like a child. The child does'nt know good or bad. Hence the child will not have any fear of bad or need to think what is good. When you have no fear and do not thinki you experience a kind of bliss. But in the case of an adult or a student, it is not possible to be ignorant, he has to learn, he has to know for his living, to solve his day to day problems of the life.

The moral of the story is - try to gain knowledge selectively. This will help you in retrieving your knowledge at the time of necessity. Do not learn for the sake of learning, learn for the sake of necessity.

Is that clear ?

You know the saying, "what you don't know can't hurt you". Well, tell that to the victims of a terrorist bombing. 'Nuff said.

Seriously now, did you notice that most social problems (criminality, child abandonment...) happen among the uneducated? Why so many unhappy happenings (pun intended) if "ignorance is bliss"?

Yes, I'm biased. I like to describe myself as an "information junkie". I couldn't imagine my life without books, clubs and friends with interesting hobbies. But do you really think that booze, cigarettes and drugs are reasonable alternatives?

Knowledge is essential to survive and fulfill our aspirations and dreams but at times in some matters ignorance is bliss cause it saves you from a lot of heartaches and headaches.

What you are saying is applicable only in a few cases. It has a restricted sense. Let me give you an example. You are sleeping and a cobra comes near you and stays near your head and then after a few hours leaves the place without hurting you. If had the knowledge, you would probably have screamed and tried to harm the serpent and in retaliation would have been bitten by it.
Ignorance in some occasion keeps you from worries.

Not knowing dosent mean we dont want to seek knowing about it.

Some things are yes simpler when, the truth or knowledge isnt known.
And when some research is done, how one can blossom and even change there path in life.

So we seek knowledge, but it is personal to every human as to what they seek.
We arent know- it- all's
