Honestly, not really. Will you have more choice in where you practice if you went to a real prestigious school? Sure. However, for the most part, as long as you get in one that lets you practice in your country, you're fine.

Yes and no. You don't want to go to a mediocre school but you don't have to go to Harvard or John Hopkins. Do some research on the school you want to attend and make sure it is respected. It doesn't need to be prestigious.

If a people's lives are going to be in your hands, I'm hoping you would chose the best medical school you could.

What am I saying. I'm going to a medical school closest to home.

Snap out of it of coarse it matters! You can't get hired at any respectable job(involving doctors) without a respectable college degree.
