In my opinion, http://www.visitcopenhagen.com is the best place to start for ideas and hotels.

Hello, from personal experience the booking.com works great for me.
You can find good offers, reviews and ratings from guests (a great tool to decide based on other people bad or good experience).
I'm using it the last three years and I didn't have any problems. The hotels and the rooms were exactly as I red on site.
The maps also gives you an idea where the hotels reside.
The reservation process is easy and you don't need to pay with credit card.
Enjoy your travel.

There's some good suggestions here but i think the best thing to do is to use a directory where you can sort the hotels by prices and location ( using a filter ) and then choose after you have looked through the pictures and descriptions.
For things to do, go to the Nationa lTourism website and check out attractions and events. Hope that helps:

Five minutes walk from the 'Tivoli'in the middle of the city,in an almost invisible part of the red light district(do not let that put you off,it's nothing like other cities),there is a really nice hotel.
Well priced, plus a buffet breakfast,it's well-appointed and although I don't recall the name,in the middle of the city, people will know where you're asking for.

i could not remember the name, but what i do remember was being able to have a good select of prices and location from the travel agent. if they are good they know and can give help even for free. but take time to visit them in person, not much info will be derived from emails or phone calls. erstwhile, the danish consulates may refer good travel agencies catering their country
