and had to have emergency surgery and had to have my right tube removed1/15/07. I haven't had a period yet is this normal ? I have had unprotected sex , is it too early to tell if I'm pregnant? Has anyone had an experience like this , and how soon did you get pregnant again with just one tube ? Helpful answers are appreciated thanks!

Well with only one tube your chances or conception are cut in half, I was told and I can't promise it's factualness that you ovulate alternately by side each month. So in theory if that's true you could be pregnant, but if not only every other month would you be able to conceive. Your hormone levels may still be very off from the pregnancy and the only person who can give you a true guesstimation as towards when to expect your period again is your OB.

I had a tubal pregnancy around this time last year. My left tube was removed in emergency surgery. My doctor told me that my chances of getting pregnant again are now 50% and there is a 50% chance that that pregnancy could also be a tubal. Once you have one the chances of you having another is greater. I still haven't gotten pregnant yet. I think that you should wait at least 3-6 months before trying again and let your doctor know that way your pregnancy can be monitored from the very beginning. Good luck. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I understand what you're going through.

Hi Honey, It is not set in stone when you will get your first period after your ectopic pregnancy surgery. Your body will find it's cycle, then nature will take it's course. I want you to know that,YOU'RE CHANCES OF GETTING PREGNANT ARE NOT "CUT IN HALF"!!! I repeat NOT" cut in half." That is totally wrong. You can get pregnant just as easily with one tube as you can with two and THAT IS FACT! Please do not worry, call a nurse with your questions, better yet your doctor. Some nurses hand out OPINIONS instead of facts. Your doctor will be anxious to answer your questions. You are currently coping with many things, a loss of a child, hormone changes, and now fretting about being pregnant. The doctor who knows you just had this difficult surgery , will be happy to answer any questions you have. Please do not feel quilty about the fact that you had unprotected sex. Just get professional help so you can relax and recover calmly from your surgery. This is your time to recover completely , physically and emotionally so do what you must to gain serenity and calmness. Any major surgery takes at least 6 weeks to recover, so take it easy and relax. kmj

hi, im very sorry to hear about your suffering. my mom went through this when i was 6 and she nearly died. i know it must have been EXTREMELY painful. my mom says she faced irregular periods for a couple of months. thats mainly due to the heavy medication and physical trauma... the amount of reproductive hormones are the same.. but you do have lesser chances of conceiving... have faith.. u havent lost al chances of conceiving.
