Before you answer, ask yourself to name 3 of the greatest scientists of all time. Almost certainly you include in your answer Albert Einstein, who said travel to the past was, theoretically, possible. He said not the future, though. Assuming we can do it one day, would we? Are they/we? What would they change, and would we ever know they had changed it?

I'd love to answer your question, but I need to travel back to 1968 and stop the Rolling Stones from playing at Altamont.
Gotta go!

Theoretically, there could be 5 legged purple elephants in the world, but they don't actually exist. The way we combine space and time into spacetime causes some convoluted logic on questions like time travel. Common sense tells you that you can't go backward in time. If you walk 50 feet, then turn and walk back through the same space time doesn't roll backwards. But if you travel near light speed, you can make a pretty good 'jump' to the future. Technically, you'll be existing through that period of time, though at an accelerated rate. Also, if people or aliens were doing it........ never mind. It hurts my brain.

because of those rrpercusions it is impossible for them to actually change anything. Any who have come and affected something have always been there, as odd as it seems. If someone were to come in your room from the future they'd be there now, not in an alternate universe or timeline, here now, but none have made themselves known.

If we're not complete idiots to have created a time travel machine than let's hope we're not idiots enough to change events of the past (our present).

Well, if we can think of the repercussions to changing current events, surely "they" will too. After all, if they change something here, the ripple effect through time could erase THEM. I would hope "they" wouldn't want to risk that.

If they change history, their future will be changed! They may disappear or time machine may not be invented yet! I don't think we can mess anything with the past!

It happens all the time, with terrible repercussions. Usually, when someone goes back and changes something, it causes famous pop stars in our timeline to go nuts and shave their heads.
