I heard the question and found it interesting. I prefer to love, then to be loved.

How sad to have one without the other.

Assuming that it was one or the other it would be niether.

To love without return is unwise in the best of case and can be self-depricating.

To be loved without return would get anoying after a while and depending on how far it goes could turn scary or dangerous (as in a stalker).

I belive that unless it is unrequited love that it should be both or neither. Hope this helps.

Both are quite sad, but if those were my only choices I'd rather be loved knowing that I would be kind to whoever it was instead of me living in misery.
That's assuming the specifics of these are whatever I just made up, but there are a lot of very important missing details about the people and the situations.

For me both are better because it is much fullfilling if you love a person which he or she loves you also. It is much like giving and taking. Even in a relationship it not good to see that the boy loves the girl but the girl does not love the boy or vice versa.

I'd rather love than be loved because I have myself to live with, and I want to be a loving person. When it comes to a special person, if I don't love someone who loves me, that can be a real drag. Then they get their feelings hurt and all that, or they make real pests of themselves, stalking, even sometimes.

I can love someone, and if they love me back it gives me room to love them even more. If they only want to be friends... I can be cool with that. Sometimes friendships last longer than love relationships. If they don't even want to be friends, well then... it's time to move on! Every lover finds their lover sooner or later. If it doesn't work out, it wasn't meant to be.

Id rather be loved because its painful to love and not be loved, i think its much easier to just be loved
