5%

Let the sides be x and y. The perimeter is currently 2x + 2y. Increasing x and y by 5% makes them (1.05)x and (1.05)y. So the perimeter is now 2*(1.05)x + 2*(1.05)y = (1.05)*(2x+2y) = (1.05)*perimeter = perimeter + 5%.

If you know the dimensions, then do all the math to determine the percentage of increase.

Example: L + W + L + W = P

If L = 200 and W = 100 then P would equal 600.

Now add 5% to each side:

L then = 210 and W = 105

Now the perimeter P = 630

The new P is 5% larger than the original P

5 percent
the perimeter of a rectangle is equal to the sum of all 4 sides
If each side goes up by 5 percent then the total will also
so
a + b+ c+ d = Perimeter
multiply both sides by 1.05 and you can see that is the answer
(1.05)a + b+ c+ d = (1.05)Perimeter
if rectangle is a square,then
100 + 100 +100 +100 = 400
105 +105 +105 +105 = 420
420 is 5 percent more than 400

also by 5%

p=2*l+2*w

say p' is the new perimeter

we have p'=2*l*1.05 +2 *w*1.05

take out the 1.05 we have

p'=1.05(2l+2w)

but what's inside the parenthesis is p

so p'=1.05p qed

5% i think. Can't really explain why i think that. Just everything should grow the equal amount of percentage.

let P1 = 2L + 2B = 2(L + B)
length becomes L + 0.05L = 1.05L
breadth becomes B + 0.05B= 1.05B
P2 = 2 x 1.05L + 2 x 1.05B
P2 = 2.1(L + B)
P2 / P1 = 2.1 / 2 = 1.05
P2 = 1.05 x P1

one side will be x + 0.05x and the other side will be y + 0.05y. Therefore the increase is 1.1 x + 1.1y
