I get lots of attention anyway but my man sometimes deprives me a little. When he does I usually go and give him a bear hug, when he tries to break free, I squeeze even tighter. He usually gets the message

This is gonna sound totally stupid at first, but I listen to other people, when I want attention. Most people like nothing better than to talk about themselves (duh, me too, or I wouldn't be here, huh?), and if you ask them anything about themselves, they seem to find you the most interesting person in the room! It takes a few minutes, but eventually they get around to asking you about yourself - pretty sneaky, yes?! ;-)
