Before a baby is born it is covered in a white coating to protect the skin from being in the amnio for 9 month. My son was covered in white acne looking pimples for the first 3 1/2 weeks of life. The doctor said it was because the skin was trying to accommodate its new environment. It does fade away in time, My advice to you is if you feel uncomfortable about the r"ash" call your Doctor and ask for an appointment. Its been a long time since I had my babies at home, But the grands are all wonderful.

My baby is still sort of "splotchy red" all over his torso, arms, legs, and feet. This is probably because the pigment in their skin is fair, and because the skin is so thin the blood vessels, veins etc. can be seen from the surface.

Was her cord clamped and cut right away or was she allowed to get all the nutrient rich blood from the placenta for a while? I noticed that my first two babies were very pale. Their cords were clamped and cut immediately as per hospital policy (blah!). But my last two babies cords were not clamped and cut right away and they got more of their blood from the placenta and they were both redder for a while.

my cuzin had her baby brought her home and 2 weeks later she was really red the doc said it was because they had left the baby in the incubator too long at the time of birth

should be more pale by now. How is the circulation? sounds like the blood is close to the skin. I would just call the doctor
