More often then not a mating between a male and a female rat will lead to a pregnancy. It only takes a few seconds to mate if the sexes are allowed to interact. Only once have I had a girl not like the male and refuse him.

From my experience as a Rat Breeder, your rat's pregnancy is going all wrong.

If she were pregnant she should have delivered her babies after 21 days of gestation. A month long pregnancy is too long. If the babies have died inside her then she is now getting a uterine infection called Pyometra

I've had my own experiences with this kind of pregnancy gone wrong.

I have never heard of a miscarriage in rats, and I've been on 12+ rat-only forums for the last 11 years. Usually if a rat can't carry her babies to term the fetuses will be reabsorbed.

If she is not pregnant, the bleeding still indicates that something is very wrong with your girl and the best course of action is to get her to the vet.
