The probe's course will take it on a path close to the planet Mars. Close enough to take some photographs and other readings, but not so close as to be caught in the planets gravitational pull as it continues on is path past Mars.

Well when I was younger we used to use that phrase when we would say to people to come and visit. "Swing by" on your way home or "Swing By" one day and we will visit. As for Mars it could be just as it says Probe is lined up and ready for Mars to swing by.

Hope that is correct.
