There have been five actors who have tried to bring to life the dark knight and his alter ego Bruce Wayne; Adam West, the orignal Batman, Micheal Keaton, the hero of Batman and Batman Returns, Val Kilmer, the cape crusader of Batman Forever, and George Clooney, the first Batman to fly with a Robin on the big screen, and the newest man to don the anatomically correct bat suit Christian Bale in Batman Begins and the movie to come in 2008 The Dark Knight. Which of these men brought the legendary masked detective of the DC world and his alter ego to life??

if you have knowledge of the old batman comis then the first names that come to mind would be..

michael keaton and christian bale. They each played a very dark / almost evil batman which is the way the character is supposed to be. I thought Christian Bale was almost psychotic while in the costume which was dam cool. Or maybe it was just because he was so creepy in 'an american psycho' . Bale however, is my favorite bruce wayne to date. and I just cannot wait for "dark knight'

The reason I would also chose bale over keaton is because keaton is nothing but an eyebrow actor lol

I'd say that Christian Bale is the best. Michael Keaton was a close second. Val Kilmer really did a pretty good job considering the awful story he had to work with. My vote for the worst is George Clooney.

I'd have to say Christian Bale. He actually showed the darker side of it all. Batman Begins ROCKED! I thought the Micheal Keaton did a good job in the first movie he was in but after that the movies started getting WAY too cartoonish and tongue-in-cheek for my tastes. Christian Bale takes it though. Best two quotes from both movies; "He's out there right now and I have to go to work." and "It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

Christian Bale looks extremely promising after his first movie, and I really like his use of a voice-buffering.
Michael KEaton has had the best Batman performance in his first Batman (with "Vicky Vale") but Batman Returns was really terrible.
Kilmer was OK, Clooney was never made to play Batman.

Christian Bale did it better than the other four. It help that they followed the comic book almost to the letter. Batman was a dark persona. after Bale I would say Adam West was the next best Batman. millions of People grew up seeing him as Batman both on the big screen and every week on the TV.

I grew up watching Adam West on the TV show, and he's still my favorite. If you didn't get a chance to see it every week, the effect isn't quite the same. Week in and week out, he pulled it off. Though I've found all the others interesting in their own way, I've never had as much plain old fun watching Batman as when Adam West was doing it.

Micheal Keaton,
no dought, he was a believable bruce wayne:actractive enough and spent money, but wasn't a pretty boy showoff, so you actually believed he could exsist.he was dark as batman and the custume worked perfect with his eyes.the burton films were the best ones because it was surreal and arty without being overdone, they actually made more sense and you felt for the charecters. the joker made so many jokes and was colorful because that's what the charecter was supposed to be as the penguin crass and catwoman suductive.the third one wasn't terrible(i'm a kidman fan), but that fourth one:made no sense at all.Batman Begins was good, but lacked that slight art vibe that made the original so loveable, then again when other directors try to imitate burton it seems to go horribly wrong.

Christian Bale...I like the others, (a lot...I even met Micheal Keaton in person) but Bale was able to capture the innocence that the others never could come close to.
