Everytime you turn on the ESPN, all you hear is stuff like Dice-k threw 103 pitches in a bullpen session or at 11:53 Dice-K threw his first pitch as a Red Sox, or Manny Rameriz isn't going to show up for spring training, or Jeter and Arod aren't getting along, etc. I'm sick and tired about hearing about these two teams. Lets hear about some of the other things happening around the league for once

The Yankees are the most successful professional sports franchise in the world. They have the best players and play in biggest media location on earth. The only reason you hear about the Red Sox is because they have been the Yankees punching bag for the last 100 years. It's just the way it is! If ever there comes a time when other franchises learn how to win as the Yankees have, we'll hear more about them as well.

Amen to that. I think part of the problem is for some reason ESPN has decided the only thing that matters in the sports world is the NFL. I turned on sportscenter the other day and all they talked about was the combine and the draft - leaving about 10 mins to talk about anything else. And with their limited time, it only makes sense for them to cover the most followed team and their rivals...even though I'm pretty sure neither team has done jack since they fizzled out in the playoffs last year (oh wait just kidding, the red sox didn't make the playoffs). There are MUCH bigger things to follow right now in baseball - like how the Cubs managed to spend approximately 2 trillion dollars and will still probably struggle to reach .500 because prior and wood will get hurt leaving them with no pitching again, or how the Dodgers have (somehow quietly) added Schmidt and Wolf and Pierre after being a playoff team last year - and in my opinion look to be the frontrunners in the NL right now (the mets still have no pitching and the cards lost most of theirs). ESPN needs to do itself a favor and dedicate at least 10 mins. a night just to Peter Gammons and his analysis - he won't get caught up in all the soap opera crap the rest of the network does (seriously nobody wants to hear more about T.O, arod, manny, or how many bengals got arrested today).

The reasons why the Yankees and the Red Sox get so muchg press run than the other 30 teams in baseball is because they play in two of the largest baseball markets in the US. They are two teams that are willing to throw money around for talent like Monopoly money. And lastly, these two teams are the biggest and most hated rivals in baseball. Those three reasons will create media buzz.

I am sure ESPN might pay attention if the Tampa Bay Devil Rays actually were willing to pay someone to play in the St. Pete. LOL

Then you're not paying attention. Listen or watch beyond the first 2 minutes.

Not I don't agree with you. But listen or watch longer.

For yankees23, it doesn't even come close to being the best rivalry in sports. The Toronto Maple Leafs/Montreal Canadiens rivalry is not just about hockey. It's about a country, about two different heritages, about one having been conquered by the other more than 300 years ago, and in fact, it goes back to the long history of English/French wars, and that goes back well over a thousand years. Yankees/Red Sox can't possibly compare. Nothing based in North America can possibly compare.

Being a Yankee fan, I can honestly say that I am especially sick to death of hearing about Jeter/A-Rod. What in the wide wide world of sports does it have to do with the game of baseball? It's mindless foolish gossip that is trying to generate something, a distraction to the reason the Yankees play baseball. There is nothing to it. Move it over to the Star or National Enquirer, for that is really the magnitude of it's importance. And as far as the reported Jeter/A-Rod sleepovers..... oh for pete's sake! You travel with a team 81 games in a year, its a matter of finding a place to lay your head down. A sleepover isn't a bunch of 12 year old giggly girls, so again, let's sensationalize it for something that it isn't. Why are so many people such gullible fools?

As far as other teams go, as an example I know, that there are other teams getting press. Detroit is a focus, and Gary's arrival. I should know, I saw a photo of Gary in Tiger's regalia

Boston, Chicago, San Fran, Los Angeles and New York are all Big market teams. Unfortunately that's why the national media spotlight these teams so much.

Those are the teams that garner the most public interest, not to mention that no matter where you go in the United States there are always Red Sox fans and Yankees fans scattered here and there.

Hey Yankee Dude! The Yankees haven't won a Championship since 2000 and it doesn't look like they are going to win one this year either, especially if they don't resign Riveria.

because of the fact that there are alot of Yankees and redsox fans out there. also because some of the media really don't care about the other teams in baseball.
