This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what to expect - first off I am 34 wks (estimated because I miscarried right before and have no LMP to go by) - the last 2 days I have been experiencing contractions off and on , for example 3 - 6 contractions about 8 minutes apart - then they quit for about 3 hours and come back - sometimes they are very intense and it almost feels like it is making the baby move down - I generally don't feel like doing much of anything but I can't really sit still I want to clean the house&fix everything, nonstop - It kinda feels like i have fluid leaking but not gushing or anything- i don't believe its anything like my water broke - I have been aching in my back and upper part of my legs, almost feels like the aches you get with the flu or something- I have had problems with my blood pressure/toxemia throughout the pregnancy so I go to the dr at least once a week - I go wed. this week and just wondering about others experiences with labor signs - Thanks!

I have also lost my appetite, I still eat, but it used to be my day seemed to revolve around a million small meals, now it's almost as if i feel like i foget about food and bowel movements have been alot softer than they used to be - also if these are signs of labor, how long has it taken you all for true labor to start? I called my midwife earlier and she said not to worry unless i start having contractions regular (6 min apart) for at least an hour or my water breaks& for me to drink plenty of water and lie down - I am just sooo nervous and anxious - mixed bag of emotions - lol - I want to carry at least 2 more weeks if possible - I want him to be as healthy as he can be

First and most impotrantly, if you think you are leaking, you need to call your OB right away. Not everyone gushes when their water breaks. Mine certainly did not. It was a little trickle. You need a certain amount of amniotic fluid for the baby. Although the contractions are probably Braxton Hicks, I would call your OB right away with regard to the possible fluid leak. Good luck.

I am worried about the leaking. What did your Midwife say about that? When was your last internal check up/ where you effaced? Do you have your mucus plug still?
I would change your underware now and keep a look every time you use the restroom for leakage. Sometimes we just leak because the baby kicks the bladder...(very normal)

Braxton Hicks are a pain in the butt but very good getting the body ready for birth. Try resting and having a glass of water and see if they stop. ...Legs propped knees bent on a pillow or two.
I love babycenter.com it is full of information. And babyzone is ok to. Check them out if you have not all ready. There is a section on high blood pressure and what to do.

Good luck and Congrats
Hope you get some rest tonight. I know it is soooo hard with Braxton Hicks

Honey you should definately call your doctor now! Being that this is your first pregnancy, you do not know what to expect,?LMP, Irregular contractions, some intense contractions, pressure as if baby moving downward,LEAKING FLUID!,BP & toxemia problems, discomfort back and legs, you must let professionals decide if they are braxton hicks or not. Please call the doctor now and don't be embarressed. This is not the time to be quessing. People have different experiences with labor and you need to inform your doctor what is going on. Braxton Hicks are usually not so frequent. Ask questions so you know what to do, that is what the medical staff is for. They may want to check you to see if you are dialating, and they may want to monitor the baby's heartbeat. All these things are very important for the successful delivery of your sweet baby. Nesting, wanting to fix everything nonstop is something you should not be doing until you know that you and your baby are safe. You could also call the hospital and speak to an OB nurse if you are not sure you should call the doctor. Let them call the doctor and wake him up.!! It is their job and no one can tell what is going on unless they check you for dilitation and do fetal heartbeat checks. Worrying creates stress for you and your baby, which you do not need at this time. You must take care of yourself and your baby so just make a phone call, you will be glad you did. Let us know what happens and best wishes for a safe, healthy delivery. God Bless. kmj

twinges in the cervix is the fact that its thinning as the opening slowly gets larger, i would say you are going to have the baby in a week or so. good luck
