Try http://www.terapad.com .... Its realy easy to use and has loads of free features such as webpages, CMS, forums, shop, analytics, blog, photo gallery. Then when you are ready buy your domain name. I use enom.com . For example my webpage is http://justindean.terapad.com and my domain name is http://www.justindean.com . They both work.

You might get some inspiration by looking at what other people are doing with their free sites : http://www.terapad.com/net . Good luck !

PS: I should add that Terapad is free of charge, and that the domain name is only a few buck a year.

No, and without prior experience, most DIY webmasters don't need their own domain for the first few years.

May I suggest starting out with a free host such as Yahoo's Geocities?
