In my opinion, the reason that its is unable to repair it self is because it is the main control system, which help send the message to the other parts if their a problem. It can't repair itself, because the other system won't be able to know that, that part of the brain is in need of help, since the brain play a major part in sending the messages.

That's a good question and I don't really know. Maybe it has to do with the fact that your brain doesn't have nerves that can feel pain like the rest of your body has. Since the brain is the control center it regulates everything, but doesn't know when it has been harmed itself... if you cut something in the brain, it stops working, but I don't think it knows that it stopped working.

As for brain damage, once the brain is without oxygen for a while, the cells die completely... once it's dead it can't do anything no matter if it's repairing another part of the body or another part of itself.

I really don't know the correct answer... I'd be interested in learning if you find out.

I'm no expert, but I don't think anyone really knows. There's been a lot of research in the area lately.

brain cells unfortunately do not regenerate. you do not make new brain cells. once they're dead, they're gone forever.
