I am looking for a wireless router as a gift to my techie partner. My friend is selling me a Prolink ADSL2 Modem Router, which has not been used. I tried to look for the specs of this product on the Prolink homepage (www.fida.com) but I can't find this particular model.

Can anyone please give me an idea? And is this a good router in terms of reliability? If you're familiar with this product, would you know its limitations/weaknesses?

Thank you for the help.

Yes there is a wireless model and a model with just 4 Ethernet ports -- no wireless antenna.

If you cannot find the model it may be a dis-continued ADSL1 or ADSL2 modem router. Stay away from ADSL1 and ANSI T1.413 models.

The current standard is ADSL2+ (ITU-T G.992.5) and VDSL2 (ITU-T G.993.2).

For a reliable and low cost ADSL2+ wireless router try NetGear, Aztech, or ZyXel ...
