Carey is just like some ordinary guy when he plays drama. I mean, he has feelings and is pitiful and caring and all that; but, so is everyone else I know in real life. Truman Show was great mostly because of the story. But, I think the best is yet to come.
Robin Willams, also, was great as a caring person in Dead Poet's Society and Good Morning, Vietnam and others. But, the story drives him, not the other way around.
Robin and Jim both are just GREAT COMICS and should do more comedy. They have a gift! Ok. Do SOME drama, but not so much! Aren't there enough actors out there for that? VERY FEW people have the GIFT of comedy--I mean REAL GENIUS!!
PLEASE!! Make MORE comedy!!
Eddie Murphy was great in Bowfinger and Holyman and Dreamgirls and Harlem Nights AND as a serious guy in a comic situation in Trading Places. He is ALSO a GREAT comedian!! All the characters he can play!!
Answer? Absolutely Eddie Murphy can ACT better as a dramatic actor than can Jim Carey and Robin Williams.
One thing I REALLY like about Eddie Murphy: He SWITCHES between comedies and dramas--he doesn't spend YEARS doing drama after drama like Jim and Robin do.
One more ACTOR: Bill Murray!!! Great comedian, but GREAT actor!! (Don't be fooled by his "whatever" attitude--look deeper!!)

As much as I love them, I think that Jim Carey, and Eddie Murphy are over-actors... So I am going to have to go with Robin Williams on this one!
