I heard about earning your high school diploma online and i did some research. THe reason why i wanna quit is not so i can go party or get stoned, but i've never really enjoyed the high school atmosphere and i miss a lot of school because of that. But if i stay at home i can do better at my studies and i can have a job at the same time. What should i do quit or stay?

If you are a independently motivated student, then homeschooling, or earning your diploma via online, would be fine. I know a lot of well-adjusted people that were home-schooled and are as successful (sometimes more so) than those that attended a regular high school. But this is something you should definitely discuss with your parents.

Stay in SCHOOL the education is a much better. You will regret it if you quit. High school will prepare you for college far better then a GED aslo a diploma is much more respected then GED. If you go to an employer and two people are applying for the same job and one has High School Diploma and Some College and the other has GED and Some College, The person with the actual diploma will get hired EVERY time.
Also, you're just 15, which means you probably have at least 2 if not 3 yrs of High School left, I would suggest looking into things that intrest you that the school might offer. Computers, Sports, Debate, Choir, Theatre, Heck my school even had a D&D club and a Rifle Club. If you get into some of these extra curricular activities you may find friends and fun as well as gain even more educational benefit that the GED can't offer. You will have the rest of your life to work, Right now enjoy school, and enjoy your childhood. Once it's gone, you can't ever get it back.

I would stay.

I hated high school, but the most wonderful experience was when I walked across-ed the stage and got my diploma. Everyone should experience that proud moment, also you get lots of money from relatives and family friends when you graduate.

I went to 4 different high schools all 4 years and the last too royally sucked, in your case perhaps going to another school will change the atmosphere and you will enjoy it. I enjoyed my second school loved it.

Also some of the things you see on TV or on the Internet are scams to just get your money and you don't want that. If I can graduate so can you.

Perhaps privet school would be cool or public school if you are already in privet school.

I am going to a good college now and could not be happier.

One thing that high school has that you will never find anyplace else in the world...
The one thing that kept me in school until I graduated...
The same thing that I ended up telling my son when he asked me the same question as yours...
High school has the largest concentration of high school girls. Where else can you get locked in a room with 20 hot high school girls for an hour and then 20 different ones the next hour? Enjoy it!
Seriously I'd say, take some classes online because that's a really good idea but use the credits from those classes to apply to your regular High School diploma. Any good counselor can hook you up. This will lighten the load and shorten your school day leaving time for other things like a job or whatever. My son felt the same as you but he found that he wanted to graduate with his class and do the graduation ceremony. It's a proud moment for your parents too. You don't have that many years of school left so make the most of them.

Sadly, you are only 15 and there are not alot of jobs you can get and because of child labor law, you can't work very much anyway. (It varies state to state, I'd look that up too.) I'd consult with your parents and your school counselor about what would be the best option right now. I despised school also and as a result missed alot of it. But I made it through all four years and am the only kid in my family who had a high school graduation. The others took GEDs or dropped out. I can't say stay for good and buck up, but at least give yourself time so that you can A) Drive a car and B) give your options that you cant get at your age.

My sons friend has the same problem you have and he decided to go to night school and make up the rest during summer school. He won't be graduating with his class but this doesn't bother him because he away from a bad atmosphere. If your under 16 your parents will need to get a letter from the school stating when you dropped out of school if you are over 16 you can do this yourself. There are lots of options out there depending where you live.Talk to the principle or your counselor to see what is available.

It would be best if you stayed in school and learned as much as you can. You would never learn near as much just by taking a test. It's hard enough getting a job with an education (college included...go there too!!) let alone trying to get a job without one. Find something in school that you like and can focus on. Do you like art? Join the art club. Like sports? Try out for one. You might be surprised how you can make school something you can look forward to.

Its hard getting a job with a GED. I would rather finish school and have a fighting chance at a real job not a minimum wage one. Just think you got about 3 more years and then by 18 you can figure out whether you want to go to college or not.

Stay. GED are not always as benificial as a HS graduation to employers.

Have you looked at other options? In our state we have a program called Running Start (go attend college classes at a local college earning both H.S. and college credits). I hated H.S. too and did Running Start for my Jr. and Sr. year. I loved it and got a head start on my college degree! Check it out!

ok im 17 and i dropped out of school last october. I hated it so much, i hated the people, the classes, the teachers, EVERYTHING...so i decided to drop out. I dont know about where you live but in illinois unless youre 18 and youre class has graduated which will be awhile for you you cant get your GED and the online diploma thing im not really sure about that. I do have my GED bc we kinda messed with the rules and knew the right people but its not worth it. as much as i hated it, i feel like a loser. at first i was like when i get my GED everything will be better bc then its like a diploma...no...people still see me like i dropped out of school...i feel like a loser and idk. and do you know if you can drop out...again idk where you live but in illinois i know you have to be 16 and have a parents signature
