Male dominance is a genetic factor. For a full understanding of this one has to go deep into the evolution of human race or other animals. Male dominace is a universal factor found in most of the higher animals. In most vertebrate species, large, healthy males produce disproportionately higher number of offspring, while many smaller, weaker males do not produce young ones at all although all females mate and reproduce successfully.

Bateman (1948) showed that in Drosophila melanogaster Mg., (an insect) the most successful males produced almost three times as many offspring as the most fertile females. Because of Bateman effect, animals are basically polygamous with the exception of majority of bird species.

Studies on primitive Red Indian Societies have shown that polygamous societies are more intelligent and tend to have more surviving children. Polygamy in these tribes appears to provide an effective device for certain types of natural selection (Wilson, 1975). Trowell(1963) stated that “I have never understood how the human race got over the biological hurdle of moving from polygamy to monogamy. Under the polygamous system the favoured and cultured person, the king or chief, sires a large number of people in the community, and under those conditions we ought to have intelligence building up more rapidly than under the conditions of monogamy. As far as I understand, the human race was polygamous for the best part of a million years, whereas it has been monogamous in varying degrees of stabaility for a very short time.” So because of all these the dominant trait of males is inborn and so cannot be changed easily by circumstances alone. However, this this does not mean that females are inferior in anyway. Infact, they are superior in health and on par in intelligence. Healthwise they are superior because they have two 'X' chromosomes. Eventhough brain size is more in males, the quality of the brain is same in both male and female.

The world culture before regard male or men to be over the women or female. But this notion had been changed universally as time passed by, women or female now all over the world are working for women empowerment. But it does not mean that women or female want to be above the men or male. They just want to be equal with men or male. Equality emplies equal access to all in terms of right, employment, government position, society standing, etc. -- that are usually and mainly accorded to men.

I really dont think they do rule. Its more of an understanding between the sexes. Look you cant have one without the other. Males sure have the power to determine the sex of a child. Ok but that determines the woman that carries this child. I think its a win win catagory. THe both are equal. And NO a male doesnt rule anyone. And a female doesnt either. So there no contest in my book.

A good question but a little late. It's called the Penguin Theory. Certainly we had physical superiority which is not a requirement in a civilized society anymore. Women stayed at home, took care of the children and the household. Men did get out in the world and have more opportunities to learn and expand their knowledge. We used this knowledge to make life easier for the women at home in return for them doing things to make our lives better.
This is what we did with what we learned:
Electricity- (no more collecting firewood)
Dishwashers, washers and dryers (no more heating water over a fire)
Radio & Telephones (Now women can find out what were doing before we even get home)
Television- This was the biggest mistake. Because all these women are now sitting at home with nothing to do but talk about what their men are up to they have time to create male bashing shows that they truely believe.

Men still do what they have always tried to do, Eat, Drink, and be Merry. Women, I think might be a little confused, but that's probably our fault. Sorry.

Do you really think so.
Reality is this Female rule over male , think about the day when you something which is not acceptable to your wife and she create problems in your smooth going life like hell.
Better to create an illusion in their mind that Male are ruled by Female.
Politics Man politics.

Physiologically, male are donors (even sperm) and the female are donee (to the egg). hence. Socially, they are invariably the bread winners and female are the home makers. Because of this social placement, they get more learning & experience and hence they try to dominate. Psychologically, women are emotional nature and hence allowed to get ruled.

This thought was firstly installed by our genetics.

In the days of the caveman or the hunters and the gatherers strength was one of the most deciding factors when it came to survival because strength is what you needed to hunt and kill for food. Added that women bear children for 9 months then must breast feed the child for at least another 12 months then was left to protect the child until he or she was old and able enough to join the men to hunt and gather. The male was left to take care of the hunting and gathering and feeding the family and to make all the major decision making.

This is why male dominance has transpired to what it is today.

However, males are fighting now to stay on top as the leaders and decision makers because women have proven that they be leaders and with some more desirable results.

This also reflects on some public polls where decisions made by women are of a more family oriented and safer way as opposed to male decisions to exploit everything as they have done i.e. women want peace for the children: males want power and control.
