You have to look at history. Congress was held by Democrats for over 25 years until 1994. I think ppl in general are fair-minded and know that it is never good to give one party complete control... as we have seen the past 6 years.

So to answer your question, it was for balance.

I think the greatest danger to our democracy is erosion of the separation of church and state. I do think there is a great risk in bringing corporations into government discourse like Bush has, and a huge danger if they get much further.

Corporations currently employ most of us. They have an important role in this country. They do have a vested interest and power that needs to be contained so that they are forced to serve their community. They're power needs to be contained so they are no more represented than any other special interest group with large numbers of members. That's why the laissez faire business policies of Bush can never work in the long run. But I don't see Corporations as the greatest danger. They are an 800 lbs gorilla that need to be caged, but well fed.

And while I'm tempted by the Greens and find I agree more with Nader than Kerry, realistically we have to place our vote where it will do something more than the performance of a symbolic act. I want the Republicans vanquished!

Bush is no statesman. He has conspired to undermine the very principles of freedom he is sworn to defend. The forces of the rich and powerful drive government and foreign policy. Our tax dollars and the tax dollars of our children are poured by the billions into the wealthy's pockets, in a grand giveaway. It's no coincident that the amount of tax cuts and giveaways to the rich are on the order of all of the tax dollars taken from the rich through income and corporate taxes since the New Deal policies of FDR. We need to learn in detail how they have done this, so they will never do so ever again.

Corporations like Halliburton and Carlyle group have incredible influence on foreign policy in the United States. You can see from the article below, they strive for influence throughout the world to further market their wares. Thanks to Seeing the Forest for a link to this article on corporate ties to foreign policy makers. Former political officials retire to consult as policy analysts to current political officials and corporate think tanks.

They republicans figured out how to manipulate the electorate. Reagan was a terrible president - he started a government campaign to destroy the American middle class through globalization and anti-unionism. He looked pretty and could tell a good joke so voters thought he was a good guy while he stabbed them in the back.

Today's Democrat politicians are no longer Democrats. They are leftist hippies that side with socialists.

The current Democrat part chief has indicated he disagrees with what Democrat President F.D.R. did to protect America in World War 2.
He disagrees with F.D.R. labeling enemy foreigners in America as "enemy combatants".
