The spread of hatred can be attributed to our deep rooted desire to be the best in anything and everything that we do.If somone outshines us or contradicts our opinion,we tend to take the easy way out (i.e) hate them,put the blame on others for our shortcomings.Also there is a total lack of tolerance these days.

The sad part is that this attitude is like a contagious disease,it spreads and spreads and spreads.......and if we don't find an antidote soon enough, it will eat away what little is left of the human soul.

Well, Ann, I think the world would be a lot better if we knew the answer to that definitively. Hatred is a complex emotion; there are many reasons people hate. I think one of the biggest problems is how people are unwilling to accept that other people's cultures, while they seem sometimes vile and revolting, can't be held to the same set of moral standards. What I'm saying is, morals can be seen as fixed and absolute, or flexible and relative. If people stopped attempting to judge others by the same rules as we apply within our own cultures, we would be a whole lot happier, there would be less hate, and we would all get along a lot better.

Because the same reason there is so much love in this world. It's a big world filled with a mixture of good and bad people and the bad news gets the vast majority of the press so it makes things seem worse than they really are. Don't be so pessimistic.
