I'm still a Vick fan, but the reason they won't leave him alone is obvious. He was one of the most hyped players ever coming out of college, got paid the big bucks, and has not even come close to living up to the hype....that's why. And as far as his class, or lack there of, we're seeing alot more of that lately. He's not a very classy player...if you listen his interviews, he's pretty selfish and has a lot of attitude...which also doesn't help get people off his back.

Classy? What kind of "classy" person FLIPS OFF THEIR OWN FANS WITH BOTH HANDS? Seriously dude the moment you said CLASSY you make me think you don't pay much attention. Oh and flashy isn't that great of a thing, when you add entertaining. Once you add that you make it sound more like he wants to show bling or something in my opinion. Only one is needed if you mean it in the entertainment sense. As to WHY people don't leave him alone? He is a QB not a RB. If he was a RB then yeah he would be great entertainment and that would be more of his job. He is a QB though. He is supposed to be a leader(and he isn't or is a BAD one) and he is supposed to focus more on the pass(and he showed he COULD be a QB if he would focus on that instead of RUNNING.) So until he shows he should be the QB instead of RB people will keep pointing out that he is in the wrong position. The whole Marijuana thing and the flipping off his fans thing is more of Atlanta's problem, and yours since you think he is "classy".
Oh and I am sick of this "he has no talent" thing. Maybe if he would THROW THE BALL MORE then he would have talent. First no one wants to join that team. If I was a WR I wouldn't want to go to a team where I couldn't get the ball. Second when he has talent he doesn't utilize it. Remember Peerless Price? Yeah he was terriable in ATL. but when he went back to the Bills he showed it WASN'T him. I could probably find other WRs that became good once they left the Falcons and Vick. He is just a great example because he was great prior and after his stint in ATL.

Being a fair and reasonable person, I can say that Sweetie_tdp pretty much nailed it on the head.

First - Work Ethic. He doesn't practice and he doesn't work out with the team.

Second - He's gettin paid $$$ and when you do NOT live up to expectations - you get DA BOOT!

Third - He has no concept of TEAM. I have NEVER heard him say that he takes responsibility for any mistake he's made. He blames everyone but himself.

and

Fourth - Arthur Blank went with all his coaches to get special permission from the VT Coaches, to use their plays so Vick would be comfy in the NFL. Lot of good that's done. We are talking about plays he ALREADY knows.

Now, there are some very good reasons why he should get another chance this year...

He has NO WR's, except Alge Crumpler. Even Alge dropped a few passes this past season.

New Coach New Ideas / Plays

Matt Schaub is breathing down his neck.

I can agree that while Vick can respond to pressure, he doesn't seem too motivated to keep his job. I don't wish for him to do bad...In fact, I like to see him move - keeps defenses on their toes. I think that he needs to spend time with the team, practice especially since there will prolly be some new plays, and take responsibility for his mistakes...

Once he does those things, people will respect him a lot more.

When you don't live up to the hype but are still getting paid for the hype, then chances are you're not going to hear positive things about yourself as an athlete. Plus, when you flip off your own fans and carry "suspicious" water bottles (and act shady about it at that) into airports...the media isn't exactly going to talk about you like you're a saint, much less leave you alone. I've watched NFC South teams for a long time now, being a Tampa Bay fan, and can honestly say that I would've figured Michael Vick would've made more of an impact then what he has. He really did have potential when he was at Virginia Tech, but it's like he's too concerned with wanting to be a wanna-be thug then to take the time to develop the talent that he has.

In my opinion he hasn't developed into the quarterback he could've been. He's just not accurate. And you can feed me all the BS about him being so good out of the pocket, so is Donovan McNabb.....yet he still manages a mid 90's passer rating. So Vick's wide receivers drops alot of balls, so then tell me how the Eagles leads the league in dropped passes (seriously: http://www.siliconvalley.com/mld/philly/sports/football/15954711.htm?source=rss&channel=philly_football) yet somehow manages to do well?

I think it's to the point that people are tired of hearing his (and a lot of Vick fans) excuses about why he doesn't produce. If you're a good QB and a good player you MAKE it happen. Vick has been with the Falcons for 6 years now and at best has averaged around a 75 passer rating (an 81 in his second year holding up his average). I don't think we can blame 6 years of subpar passing on dropped balls alone.

It's either live up to the hype or go home.

Mikael Vick is a "spotlight" player. He is flashy and gets all the media attention, so when his team is good HE receives the glory. So rightfully when his team is bad HE should receive the criticism. He is probably the most talented player in the NFL, but his talent has only got the Falcons to an NFC championship game. If the Falcons can win a Superbowl, people will lay it to rest. Otherwise he will continue to be under criticism.

because it is generally recognized that when you spend over 120 million on a single player who the college coaches had to throw out 2/3 of the playbook out so he could run the offense using his legs and a '1 read', that you have just paid for entertainment value, NOT the possibility of being a championship team...as for classy, most people in the stands loved how he showed them they were number one (flipping them off?)think a real qb like Brady or Manning would ever stoop that low?...have they made this over-hyped overpaid athlete a wide receiver yet? They would never have even mentioned a move like that with a real quarterback...

Vick is an amazing athlete. With that said, he has the intelligence of a 5th grade dropout. He has no moral upbringing (see Marcus Vick as well) and will never be a leader of the Falcons as long as he can't at least mask his belief that he is the franchise.

Well, let's start with his work ethic. He is known to very sparingly watch tape and does not practice hard. He could be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time but does not show the dedication to get there. He had a substance in a secret compartment in his water bottle. Why does anyone need a secret compartment in his water bottle in the first place? The one reason and one reason alone which caused me to lose respect for him is when he flipped off the crowd. The sad thing was it was his own home team fans who he gave the bird too. It seems awfully hard to show respect to someone who doesn't show respect to the people who pay his salary.

In Brief: two words-Ron Mexico

Vick is a coach Killer, period. He will neverbe totally successful as a QB in the NFL until he can stand in the pocket without wetting himself and whining about how his O-line doesn't protect him(ask Bob Whitfield!)

Steven P: sounds like u have issue with sports journalists...
Some of us have quite full lives, even S.O's and children(i prefer dogs to kids myself-easier to train) and had Several Successful majors in College, Grad school, and even post grad school.
Some of us actually Coach the game and know something about it.

I dont know why people hate Vick. Nobody was complaining about him being a bad passer when he was winning and selling out stadiums but now that he has lousy WR and a defense made of glass everyone wants to blame him for losing.Everyone should get off his back the Falcons knew he wasnt a "normal" QB when the drafted him, thats why they drafted him.
