Lets say we get the official acknowlegement from the world's governments that they have been in contact with non-terestrial life forms for the past 40 to 50 years. How do you think the world would react to the news.

Well, what happened just one short year after the WTCs were destroyed? Everyone went about doing what they're doing: drinking cheap beer, working in cubicles, buying t-shirts, eating dead industrial foods, becoming obese, still killing and backbiting, hooked on porn, etc., etc.
