I heard that Adam Wainwright wanted a spot in the starting rotation, and has been told he will get one.
Jason Isringhausen should be the closer.

Isringhausen has thrown off of a mound a few times since reporting to camp without pain so he will close which will move wainwright to the rotation where he is badly needed.

If Isringhausen is healthy he's got the job and wainwright is in the rotation, but if Izzy's still hurting Wainwright's got the job.

Jason Isringhausen.
But Wainwright will if his rehab doesn't go well in the spring.

It looks like Izzy gets the closers spot back. He never was a great closer, but he is an above average closer. He doesn't have blow you away tyep stuff, but he seems to get it done more with 'smoke and mirrors'. Wainwright was always slated to be a starter, and was only placed in the closers role by emergency needs. I just hope Wainwright's arm can hold up all season starting, rather than pitching an inning or two every other day. Only time will tell.

Izzy will start out as the closer, he is a LaRussa favorite. I forsee injuries from the aging vet though. Although Wainright will get a shot at the rotation, I bet he'll get another shot at the closer's role before too long.
