I downloaded a movie with the subtitles but I don't how to combine a .avi file with a .srt file. I want to play the video on wmp11.

Download VobSub and play the movie using Media Player Classic.

use virtualdubmod or avimux. Avi is a container that holds the video, audio, subtitle, ect. information. The subtitle information needs to be put into the avi container.
