Hi, plants release CO2 all the time as they metabolise the carbon compounds. When light is available to the the plant it will carry out photosynthesis and will take up carbon dioxide in order to make larger carbohydrate molecules. This process releases oxygen. During the day the plant releases a lot more O2 that CO2. The CO2 continues to be released during the night when photosynthesis does not take place.

Overall plants release more O2 than CO2, hence why they are good for combating the Global warming.

All plants release CO2 throughout the day, more so at night.

Maybe you're thinking about C3 and C4 plants, which have different methods of carbon fixation. C4 releases less carbon dioxide compared to C3 plants.

Green plants do respire: at night time they exchange gases just as we do, Oxygen in and Carbon Dioxide out. In the daytime they do just the opposite. Carbon Dioxide enters a plant because it is needed for photosynthesis, and Oxygen leaves. This is still called gaseous exchange.

The majority of them release at night, some plants without leaves could be can exception such as 'stone flower plant'---I think that is the name---a plant that look like a stone but actually produces flowers, and cactus that has needles---it'll be different for cactus with leaves though (and some species do!!). Day time is absorbing CO2 and releasing oxygen, night time is for absorbing O2 and releasing CO2, hence, don't put too many plants and bonsai in your bedroom at night!

Plants release carbon dioxide at night. This is the reason why it is not advised to sleep under plants at night.

Most plants release it in the day. Cacti release it at night because it would lose too much moisture if it released gasses at day.
