I have a question I want to be talkative like all the rest of my cousins, but I can't coz I'm too shy, and if I speak in english coz my aunts uncles, grandpa is filipino and I really want to relate to them and everytime I speak in english they always say ''Wow you speak Nice English'' I get shy, how do I be more talkative and talk about things with my cousins instead of just sitting around and not talking? I want to talk with my cousins very much as i can, how do i be more talkative? please help me, people always stare at me when I talk,
I'm 12 years old and I really need some help HERE!!

One thing I want you to know, is that many times when we feel self-conscious we feel that others are STARING at us..most especially when we talk and even more so if we are speaking in a language that is not our native tongue.
Don't stress about that. When you talk people look at you as they focus on what you say. You do the same back when someone is talking...it is natural.
Now that being said, why don't you approach your cousins, perhaps one that you feel closest with, and just simply start talking.
Talk about what you like...ask them what they like...what they do..if they go to school...fav subject etc. You can talk about anything and everything! What did you do today? Talk about that..and ask them about their day and what they did.
Just think, that they might be just as shy as you too!!

Well, first of all, act naturally and speak naturally. If you are shy and very concern with your English, then try to study and learn. It is within you that you can overcome shyness and gain self-confident. Learn the basics of all things and learn advanced subjects, so that you have the know-how and you know topics a lot to discuss. You can debate and talk to them, in such a way that your confident will oozed-out to the point of discussion.
I am a Filipino, and I've learned my lessons too. I tried my very best to learn and speak the way they did. And, I can and I will!
Don't get so ashamed of you, in the first place. Get the best lesson from people you interact with. You're young and you need some time to grow...need some time to prove yourself that you can. Go on, study and learn...and don't be shy always. Remember, that man are all equal....they are not superior from you. Be a man to accept anything that troubling you. Encounter the hardship and gain the happiness in life.

one good excersise is to meet someone new everyday...you dont have to get to know them just introduce yourself, shake their hand and attempt to start aimless conversation. Be sure to make eye contact with anyone who notices you, dont look away until they do. This will build your confidence. And one more thing, smile more, smile at people who look at you. good luck!

i have answered this question many times. Shyness is due to the fear of rejection and the lack of confidence.
