Is malware wipe and antivirus gold safe to download and use or is it a trick to get you to buy because of a virus threat?

They are both fake .

Antivirus gold is a piece of rogue software that poses as a legitimate antivirus program. It is typified by a small icon in the system tray, with a link directing to download the offending software. It could also possibly do a homepage hijack.

Malware Wipe, MalwareWiped, and MalwareWipePro are exactly the same program. They are rogue anti-spyware applications that use fake alerts and false positives as a goad into scaring you into purchasing their software. This software is usually installed by Trojans that issue fake security alerts in your Windows taskbar stating that you are infected with a variety of malware. When you click on these task bar alerts, it will either install MalwareWipe or MalwareWiped, bring you to a web site that is offering you other rogue anti-spyware applications, or bring you to a page that is trying to sell the full commercial version of MalwareWipe or MalwareWiped.

I would stick with the proven, recommended free stuff. Anti virus programs, AVG, or AVAST. Malware, Spybot, Adaware, even Windows Defender. All free, no hidden gimmicks. Chow

my suggestion.
Download AVG Anti Virus Free edition - its the best and is free!
Also download Spybot Search and destroy and Adaware SE both freeware also and are awesome.
Simply download, install and update the definitions for each and you're done! Update and scan often.

If you have something telling you to buy or download those programs, then you have a SmitFraud Trojan on your computer. You need to go to either one of these two sites and remove the Smitfraud.
