Awhile ago, I asked for help..My daughter had run her IPod through the washer...Most people said there was no hope...and I agreed..It was ruined...Well, her boyfriend put it in the oven...(not sure the temp or how long) Well!!! It worked! The music is still there, the pics, everything!!! Just wanted to share this with everyone...Dontcha think its amazing????

All things considered, I think it is more amazing that the oven didn't ruin it than that the washer didn't.
The reason you don't want electronics to get wet is because the water conducts electricity and the electricity can short out the device; sort of like wiring random parts of the guts of the iPod together. But if there is no electricity flowing, nothing is going to get shorted out. The iPod is probably largely watertight, so as long as you don't turn it on while it is wet inside, you're probably going to be fine unless the water happens to short out the battery itself. Along these same lines, I've known people who spilled drinks into their laptop computer, immediately powered it down, and just made sure not to power it up again until it was completely dry. No problem.
As for putting the iPod in the oven, I guess you didn't say how hot it was, but I'd immediately get concerned about the plastic and/or metal parts of the iPod starting to melt. That's a whole different mess.
