My family has a tradition of eating out on New Year's eve, and we always spend it at Maggiano's Little Italy. Last eve, we paid about $200 for the five of us. Is there a Wolfgang Puck restaurant that is around that price range? We really want french and/or italian cuisine.

Do you suggest any other restaurant? Somewhere around $200 for a family of five.

I have only been to Wolfgang Puck's Vert restaurant at Hollywood and Highland and it's pretty pricey. You probably could get out of there for under $200, but you'd probably have to skimp a bit (for example, they had a porterhouse steak dinner for two people, and it was about $60). Good food, but pricey.

Have you ever been to the Grand Lux Cafe in the Beverly Center? It's a huge restaurant and is related to the Cheesecake Factory, but I think it's much tastier and better. You could feed five there for $200.

How about Buca di Beppo. I think they're in Pasadena and Universal City. It's fun to go there at least once and it's pretty tasty food.

I like Miceli's a lot, too. It's older and maybe not as fancy schmancy as other places, but I think their food is great and the yummy rolls and butter that they serve are delicious! There's one right off of Hollywood/Highland and one on Cahuenga as you head over toward Universal and Studio City.

Pastis on Beverly has good french food. I seem to remember most entrees being in the $15 - 30 price range, so without booze, you may be able to cut it under $200.

Good luck!

Maggiano's (at the Grove). Italian, like a classy version of Buca di Beppo. Perfect for groups, and it's in your price range. Make sure you make a reservation ahead of time. And congrats on your graduation!

The cafes could probably be done for around $25 a piece. But, you'd have to be careful not to order too many drinks, salads, or appetizers.

If you are near one, stop by and look at a menu to see if it fits your needs. : )
