They can be really hard to take, especially their horrendous social hierarchy. However, they did invent modern parliamentary democracy and the Oxford English Dictionary. Also, they lost their empire, so they paid a heavy price for being -- when they are not in good form -- socially condescending, repressed, obnoxious, implicitly power-hungry and two-faced without consciously realizing that they are two-faced. They are not very honest people, although they don't seem to understand this about themselves. Still, I say they've taken some hard shots in the last hundred years, and deep underneath I think there is still the Churchillian courage which is admirable, so I would call it an even score at this point. I think the English are at a fork in the road right now, and have the option of choosing dishonesty or decent rationality from within their social traditions; we'll see what they do.

I like England and the English. Oh you can find shiri no ana (as the Japanese say) anywhere, but for the most part, the English are polite people, fun, interesting, intelligent. Their food is not that great, except for roast beef. Their beer is served at room temperature, thats a little disappointing. But its a beautiful country, I like England a lot, and the English people I have met.

I despise your wonton and improper use of the English language!

Is this because they've decided to leave Iraq? Seems to me like maybe somewhere next to that arrogance they have a bit of common sense.

Or did an Englishman pounce on your girl? In that case, it's OK. Lucky girl!

Then don't go to England and be done with it. Next.

Btw, I like the English, they're pretty cool. I enjoy their humor, their politeness, their culture (what I do know of it), and their language. When spoken well, English is soooo elegant!

Dude, you're missing out on a lot!

I feel sorry for you....I cannot imagine what has caused such hate for people you do not even know. To hate like you claim is hurting you much more than them....

But maybe you are one of those arrogant Americans that give all Americans such bad reputations everywhere else in the world.

Try not to hate so much...it only shortens your life. Love is much nicer.

It's people like you that cause all of the problems in the world.... (it's called hate). You have no reason to despise English people, what the hell did they ever do to you????? HUH???
AND ANOTHER THING, "BIG GUY".... MY GRANDMOTHER CAME FROM ENGLAND, TO AMERICA IN 1906. SHE LIVED TO BE 106 YEARS OLD!!! I have nothing more to say, or waste anymore of my time on you.

Why would you waste so much time and energy hating an entire culture? Your time would be better spent studying English rather than hating it - then you would know the difference between "there" and "their."
