Great ans. so far! I'm glad i didn't give details...But, here they are: carrots start out strong and become soft, eggs always look the same on the outside but, become hard inside, and the coffee bean changes the water around it filling the water with it's flavor.

coffee bean hands down, i drink about fifteen cups of nice dark roast black coffee, all day long, a coffee bean seems energetic, and lively, like me, and add boiling water and you still have a nice energetic cup of coffee to drink
a carrot sounds boring, very straight with no sense of humour
a egg seems sly, you put it on the table and it rolls away, never stay still, and plus i don't like the smell of boiled eggs

SORRY I MISREAD THE QUESTIONS, i thought you wanted to know what you think of when you boil these items in water, your question requires more serious thought ,and I'm to tired right now to think of how to answer, reasons why and stuff, and i tried to delete, but it won't let me, i always give serious questions serious answers, i misread and thought this was something else, again sorry

A carrot. The carrot becomes flexible subjected to the adversity. As the water boils it changes itself to become more flexible. With adversity I accept the change and change myself to be better suited should that change occurs. This of course, also depends upon your interpretation of what each of the food items is.

I love all three.... but more than likely it would be have to be an egg. I have memories of my childhood gathering eggs.. So traumatic when those hens were on their nest and me a child reaching underneath to retrieve those eggs.. Hens pecking my little hand . Me with my basket but just trying to get those eggs for grandma. I always got my basket full but was scared but just did what I was told to do. Those little brown eggs were an impact on a young life. Making sure I didn't break one and I made sure they were brought into the house unscathed.

I suppose I am an egg. With adversity comes change, and I become more solid and (if I grow) more useful. I believe, though, that if the trials become too difficult my hard surface could crack and someone might actually see what is inside, hiding beneath my tough exterior.

Probably a coffee bean. I like to try to influence those around me, and change them, hopefully turning them from being boring and bland into interesting (and preferably very strong and without sugar and/or milk).

When exposed to boiling water, they all make something that tastes $hitty. That being the case, I don't think I'm any of them.

I guess that depends on circumstances. Some experiences make me mellow, a few others make me strong. But whatever experience, I just hope I have it in me to learn from then and that they contribute towards making me a better person.
