If you like beaches, South Padre Isand is nice. If you like dense woods for campaing and scenery try the Big Thicket of East Texas. If you like museums, try the museum district in Houston. For musical and drama/comedy type stage productions, Houston, also has a Theatre District second only to Broadway. If you like discovery, try Space Center Houston near League City. Also, Johnson Space Center near Clear Lake. Both located about an hour away. Also you'll find a wonderful Boardwalk on the bay at Kemah. There is dining on the boardwalk, and many shops and very unique restaurants. Especially The Aquarium.. .its like your eating inside a aquarium!
There is Moody Gardens on Galveston Island. There you will find a tropial rain forest, a discovery pyramid, a pyramid that has some really huge butterflies and other small animals, a man made beach, a paddle-wheel boat cruise around the bay on The Colonel. There is also a 3-D Theatre which is really cool. I go to Moody Gardens just for the 3-D shows. They are really nice.
Hope you find something nice to do....

Arkansas has some great destinations. Hot Springs is nice--the historic bath houses and the horse races are great! Another great Arkansas destination is Eureka Springs. Lots of charm.

Have fun!

NO.Go to West Virginia instead. You will see beautiful mountain scenery that is unmatched. Not as high as the Rockies, but, a lot more trees. More rugged than the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas. And the people are a whole lot friendlier. As John Denver, said, "Almost Heaven, West Virginia".
Give it a try.
