I think that u have it wrong. From what I see and here, when older men date and marry younger women somehow everyone assumes that he's just looking for someone who he can control and someone who he is primarily interested in for superficial and sexual reasons. Women older women marry younger men it seems that people tend to assume that she is in it for love and for her happiness with the guy. In both cases the younger mate is accused of being interested in only financial aspects of the relationship. Let's go a step further. Statutory Rape/Inappropriate sexual activity with a minor is framed in the same way. When women are sexually involved with under aged men, the situation is presented as if it were a story of forbidden love. It's about the feelings and the connection that they had, not the sex. When men have sex with under aged women the story is completly different. He is viewed as a monster who "stole" the innocence of someones child for his own sexually motivated reasons. There is no love and if he claims that there was no one sees it that way.

Older man younger woman relationships are more acceptable because men are viewed as the power and leadership. An older woman younger man relationship makes the male look weak like a boy toy in most cases.

What also affects our views is the fact men are visual and the younger woman makes him look good while older women make a younger man look weird and hard up for a girl. It is a child bearing issue as well. Men can have children well in to his sixties and seventies. An older woman's clock start running out after forty.

Both are fine but the older woman younger man relation has more of a chance of failure in the long run. A man can look more distinguish with age while a woman just seem to age. It is a hard fact of life but none the less true. Women do get to live longer that men if that any consolation.

Older men and their interest in younger women goes back centuries. That was common practice in the old world. You didn't see men and women of the same age dating let alone marring. There were many factors that played into this. The idea of the teenager did not come into play until the advent of the industrial age. You have to realize that at age 12 you were considered an adult and you were doing something to contribute to the family business or household. Even though a boy was considered a man at 12 he had nothing to offer a woman at that age so he had to work several years to be able to afford a wife, by having a dowry, property and some means of employment. So you often had young men in their late 20's early 30's getting married to or betrothed to women in their early teens. The virgin Mary for example was at least 16 when she carried the Christ child and Joseph was in his late 20's. The reason that has changed as of late is that the level of mental maturity has changed. No longer can a 16 year old woman be in a married relationship or even consider dating an older man because we don't raise them to have a sense of responsibility like we use to. The same goes for younger men going after older women. It's only been in the last 10-15 years that the "MILF" Phenom (thanks to American Pie) has allured young men into being fascinated by the older maturer females. In many middle eastern countries the practice of older men engaging younger women is still in practice. So, it really boils down to level of maturity and social no no's that keep this behavior from progressing.

In my world either is acceptable. However, younger women seem to be more able to be "emotional equals" to older men. Younger men are often much less mature or sophisticated than older women. This may make for good short term sex but doesn't seem to last. Younger men haven't typically learned the joys of cuddling and other forms of intimacy that add a whole different dimension to sex.
I was always attracted to older women. When I was in my 20's I got to "learn" from more experienced partners. One woman (she was 40) decided that I needed to learn how provide her "oral" pleasure the way she "fantasized". She said I would thank her later. I thank her constantly to this day. For the right "younger guy" an older woman is a godsend.
Now that I am a (single) "older guy", I wonder if I could meet up with a younger woman who longs for the "lingering adoring attention" of a willing and able seasonded lover.
It's all good if it is respectful and reciprocol.

It's been that way since the beginning of time. It is slowly changing to being acceptable for the guy to be a few years younger than the girl, if he is in his 20's or 30's, but not a huge age difference. I am divorcing one that is 9 years younger than me, mainly for morality issues, but also because he is so immature. I am involved with a man that is 13 years older than me right now. Women's looks fade faster than a guy's does. That accounts for the older women/younger guy thing from her point of view. That and younger guys (up into their 20's) are still all about themselves. Older men are out to please their (younger) woman, because they know in most cases when the guy pleases us, we will be happy to please them.

I don't know, but when it's a younger man and older woman, the sex would last longer. On the other hand, since women mature faster, the younger woman/older man is sometimes better. It varies. I, at 38, am involved with a 56 year-old man.

I think most people just don't see how a younger man can be attracted to an older woman seeing how men are usually so shallow. I think it's fine as long as both are of an appropriate age.

Because humans are socially retarded. However, it makes sense.

Men are fertile much further into life than women. Women get menopause in their 50s, so it would make little sense for a young man to marry an older woman since his chances of having kids gets severely restricted once she gets into her 50s. Old men can have kids with any woman of childbearing age, which is why its okay for 60 year old men to marry 20 year old women.

Neither is right nor wrong.

There are actually some cultures that encourage the older woman/younger man marriages.

The stigma with the older woman/younger man relationships is MUCH less than it was even a decade or two ago.

Because society expects a man to go through a "mid life" crisis, but thinks women don't. But, women do go through them, probably more than men. If you want to marry this younger man, do it. I did. And, boy what a mistake. It is one I have regretted ever since, too. Thank God for an air-tight prenuptial agreement!
