This represents a number by which the base number is raised to the power followed by the symbol, e.g.

2 ^ 2 = 2 x 2 =4 , ( 2 rased to the power 2 )

2 ^ 3 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8, (2 raised to the power 3 )

2 ^ 4 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16 etc.
