It makes me very sad that rock is dead to most people. well thanks for pop culture, yet again ruining america. why does america seem to think that every person must have the same interests, dress the same, and believe the same ideas in this age? I understand rock still exists, but most of the rock that is popular today is crap like the fray and snow patrol that NOT REAL ROCK. rock music is about protesting all the crap from the government, and it seems the media is trying to stop it. where have the rage against the machine type bands that really protest the things that are wrong in our society gone?

i agree that the vast majority of the united states has horrible taste in music, but that doesn't mean that crap-pop and crap-rap are the only forms of music that still exist. the indie rock world is experiencing a massive renaissance - and i'm not talking about muse, snow patrol, the decemberists, death cab for cutie, etc - REALLY good music by REALLY talented artists is getting more and more recognition because more and more people are sick of being force-fed britney spears clones. things are getting better! you are just hanging out in the wrong places!
go to http://www.last.fm if you don't believe me. this is a community of a half-million people, almost all of whom listen to good music.

i'm engaged on an Asian American Roots music circulation. this could be a style for united statesa. Roots music that incorporates, human beings, blue grass, jazz, blues, Latin varieties. that isn't any longer an adaption of those varieties, yet a sort of its own. Even interior of those varieties there is countless transformations. Being honest and yet genuine. the project rather is that Asians have a love affair with American music, besides the incontrovertible fact that that's an unfulfilled love affair. we've not contributed, we in hassle-free terms use, take and earnings on opportunities. The music of united statesa. represents a great variety of dedication and human pathos. We see it as basically relaxing. until eventually we take the artwork of music heavily sufficient, we can't attain the human soul in others because is the place music starts, interior the human midsection human beings. we are too in contact approximately imitating, and not originating.

it's the same as in every age/decade that has existed. every single style america has gone through was based off of some music subtype.
other forms of music exist, and no offense but it's your fault for not discovering them yourself. who cares if america's youth is subscribing to brainless, all-sound-the-same "punk" (which actually died out in the late eighties) music and i-want-to-do-you-all- the-time-but-not- have-a-relationship rap music? as long as you have your own thing, then you will remain happy with the music you listen to. be independent. things will change. more than likely for the worst, but that's american media for ya.

Hey, you've got to widen your circle of friends. There's a lot of really wonderful music out there today. Rock is still alive and kicking! And for something bluesy, and really good, listen to some John Legend, John Mayer, Corinne Bailey Rae, Joan Osborne, Ben Harper, Danny Tate. Man, there's no end to it! Find what makes you feel good, and maybe you can introduce other people to what you like. So much of the music I have, connects me to someone who first played it for me, and this goes back for years and years.

I personally hate rap music and pop music. I listen to rock. I'm kind of different for most people in their early twenties.

sweetie thats what the media wants you to think. its their way of making people like they want them to like. i see nothing wrong with pop and i like rock but i really dont like rap like at all. i think there's no originality in it. all of the songs are about cars, money, women, sex, violence. basically all the crap that make this world as bad as it is now. but of course rap is not the only type of music that does that, but it accentuates it a lot.
