I want the opinion of someone who has sprained their AC joint

You are looking at about 4-6 weeks of recovery time, depending on the severity of the sprain. If it is minor it could be 1-2 weeks; if it is severe it could take up to 12 weeks. Avoid re-injury and delayed healing by resting and not straining the shoulder with heavy lifting. If you have questions specific to your injury, you should ask your PT or MD.

BTW, the AC (acromio-clavicular) joint is in the shoulder. The ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) is in the knees.

In truth, it never heals. You have a strain of the AC ligament. Ice and Rest. If it does not get better then you should see a physical therapist. I have done the same thing on both knees so you will either get better or be able to tell when it rains the day before.
