Where I live, they do. And I think that is unacceptable especially for people who are health conscious.

Yes they should. One case of bottle water costs more than an entire box of soft drink syrup. They don't make any money off of selling bottle water at the already high price. If they lowered the price they would lose money on the water. Fast food places usually make most of their money on soft drinks because syrup is so cheap.

Unfortunately when you go to a store, any store, bottled water is more money than a can of soda, so, why shouldn't a fast food restaurant charge more for bottled water. They have to buy the bottled water at whatever cost, and they have to pass it on to the buyer. But, as far as the soft drinks go, they get them by the ton, that is the flavoring, add what is like club soda, and voila, they have loads and loads of cheap soda. If it really upsets you, get regular water. In most places in the US the water out of a tap isn't all that bad for you, there is really no need to buy bottled water, it's just a hype.
But, not to be judgemental, if you are that health concious what are you doing in a fast food restaurrant

Yes they should. If you are truly health conscious, you probably shouldn't be eating at a fast food restaurant, but if you do and prefer water, you are welcome to drink the free tap water. The reason they charge you for the bottled water is because it is more expensive than their fountain drinks and therefore it cuts into their profits. After all, they are a business and that's what they do. You as the consumer have the choice to give them business or not. But like I said, if your health is important, then the extra $0.50 should be worth it.

Well the reason they do is it makes them less money then a fountain drink . Fountain drinks cost them maybe 3 to 8 cents including the cup and ice and the bottle of water maybe 40 cents so do the math. Water $1.50 ...Large drink $1.50..

If they want to then sure. If you don't want to pay for it(I don't know why anyone would pay for water, but anyways...) then bring your own bottle. If you are truly health conscious. then why are you eating fast food?

They can do whatever they want to if it makes them more money. Maybe if you are really trying to be health conscious you can make homemade snacks and take them on the road.
