Democracy is a tyranny! This is not freedom. The free markets do not exist anymore. Every place should be filled with prosperity in a competitive market but democracies allow socialist propoganda to infiltrate leading to a drain in the production process, the only proven relief for poverty. The gap between the rich and the poor is good. The richer the rich get, the richer the poor get as well. Money is not constant contrary to the socialists thought process! When government sticks it's evil head in the door they produce less goods and services to trade with healthcare, rent, and just about any other good that is needed by the people! Impersonal markets found in economic freedom REDUCE racial discrimination and corruption. The question I have is have you ever read anything other than the GOP and DNC websites? These politicians care about votes, not about what is truly best for a nation! These people do not understand economic growth at all! Scary, they force use to live under their system! Is this freedom? That's what Americans are dighting and dying for! Freedom ~ Libertarian

It can be a part of a democratic nation, it just is does not fit well in America. America is the most well executed free market economy in the world, and partially because it has kept a more pure capitalism than most developed countries. Sure there is more crime, more poverty, and other bad things, but those are sacrifices we make to have other benefits. Like being the world's richest country. Most Americans can trace their heritage back to poor immigrant families, even the multi millionares. They didn't need socialism to make it here then, neither do we.

Socialism, in it's purest definition, is a type of economic system. Democracy is a type of government. There are many democracies who practice socialism, to varying degrees. Japan has socialist tendancies, where the government directs public investment in private enterprise and industry. Great Britain and Canada have socialized medicine.

The United States has Social Security, Medicare/medicaid, farm aid and subsidies, tax incetives to business at all levels (local, state, and federal).

There is no true Capitalist society anywhere in the world. All economies are generally varying degrees of socialist.

Even in Communist countries (Communism being another form of economy) there is often direct election (Democracy) of leading officials.

So can creativity, creation of wealth...

Take a look at Venezuela. If modifying the Constitution to rule by decree and suppression of opposition media aren't forms of corruption, what is?

Granted there are certain socialist aspects to the US Government. The Postal Service. Social Security.

Under socialism, the means of production are taken over by government.

So, if you have two cows, the government either taxes you to the point you need to sell one, or just takes it away and gives it to the guy who has none.

Let's say you've worked hard to buy those two cows, and the guy who has none has done no work. How is it fair to take your cow away and give it to someone who doesn't try?

Socialism works just fine in many Democratic countries such as the entire European Union, Canada, Australia, and most of the free world.

I lived in Engalnd for 2 years, they have far less racial tension, no extreme poverty....and the people enjoy will never give their social system.

Too bad the USA won't follow the EU's lead.

It is not favoured in a democratic set up, because it believes in the dictatorship of the party. A single party rule often leads to corruption, inefficiency in government, lowering of production. This is what happened in the USSR.

Because most people do not believe it is the responsibility of the government to provide for its citizens. The U.S. Constitution says "promote the general welfare," not provide it.
