This is part of a poem for school. The stanza is this. This is the poem.
A screen door slams
A car engine starts
The yelling is finally over
But where are their hearts
The truck flies out the drive
You hope he’ll be back
You run to your room
You put his picture back in the stack
Everything falls threw
No one is there to catch you
You say to yourself “It aint worth it”
You don’t know what to do
You call up a friend
It takes her a while but she answers
She is half asleep

I need help with the last sentance.

Are you completely devoted to the line 'It takes her a while but she answers'? Nothing that rhymes with 'answer' seems to fit. If you changed it around to something like 'She answers after awhile' it'd be much easier to rhyme.

Go with a slant rhyme.
Answers/swears has a really nice ring to it. Go with swears.
