...then why does the water in the shower get colder?

Surely if there is less cold water available, then shouldn't it get hotter?

I ask myself this question every morning, when my girlfriend cleans her teeth as I shower.

Any help would be appreciated.

NOT SURE. SOMETHING WITH WATER PRESSURE MAYBE...YOU MIGHT GET BETTER RESULTS IF YOU POSTED THIS SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN THE PREGNANCY SECTION. FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE...OUR WATER STAYS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME TEMP...NO MATTER WHO IS FLUSHING OR BRUSHING.

Depending on the water system, a drastic drop in water pressure also affects the hot water tank, causing the flow to be reduced. Since heat goes from a hot source to a cold source, the cold water wins and you freeze.

Sounds if the cold water is being drawled off to close to the water heater, dropping pressure in the tank, and cold water line is shorter to you.

That is messed up. Something in the plumbing must be screwy. My uncle built his own house and somehow everytime he flushed the toilet the phone would ring. lmao
